Traditional fixed braces are the foundation of all orthodontic treatment options.

They offer the best degree of precision for straightening your teeth and can address any issue with how your teeth sit together in your mouth.

What are traditional fixed braces?

Modern traditional fixed braces are a departure from the designs of the past. Whilst the way they straighten your teeth hasn’t changed, their design is more streamlined, comfortable, and subtle. The brace’s components (brackets and wires) are smaller, making them easier to get used to, and we can offer a range of colours for your brace (our younger patients particularly love this option!)

How traditional fixed braces can benefit you

  • The end result is pre-determined and highly accurate.
  • The braces can address crowded teeth, gaps in your smile, misalignment, and bite problems.
  • Have a healthier set of teeth that are easier to look after in the future.
  • Not cooperation-dependent – once your fixed brace is fitted, it will work independently.
  • No aligners on your teeth so that you can bite them together with ease.
  • Gentle but continuous pressure is applied.

FAQs

How do traditional fixed braces compare with Invisalign®?

Traditional fixed braces are not removed at any point during the 12-24 month treatment period, and they are suitable for just about any bite-related issue. Invisalign® on the other hand, is a series of removable aligners: the system requires some compliance from the patient. During your consultation, we can assess which you are best suited to, depending on your diagnosis and lifestyle preferences.
